Religious Policy of Akbar – 3
B. Ibadat Khana and Discussions with leaders of various religions [1575-79]:
In 1575, Akbar constructed a building at Fatehpur Sikhri known as Ibadat Khana or house of prayers. Here he invited leaders and scholars of various religions. Makhdum-ul-mulk and Andur Nabi presented Islam. Parshotam and Debi were the leaders of Hinduism. Hira Vijay Suri and Vijay Sen Suri explained the principles of Jainism. Dastur Mehrji Rana was the representative of Zoroastrianism. Akbar listened to the view points of all the scholars. Akbar came to the conclusion that all these religions were alike in their fundamentals and differed only in their forms.
