1. Explain about Paleolithic age?
  • The earliest traces of human livings in India are found in the Soan in Punjab now in Pakistan. Other site are found in Kashmir, Belam valley in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, Didwana in Rajasthan, Narmada vally and in the rock and caves of Bhimbtkar near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh roughly belonging to 1,00,000 BC.
  • They belongs to the end of the Inter Glacial period and the beginning of the second Ice age i.e. about500, 000 years ago.
  • Some scholars also debate that early man originated in South India and migrated to Punjab.
  • People of this age had no idea of how to use metals, cultivation.
  • Unlike metals used these days for implements they used mainly stone of quartzite.
  • They lived mainly inside caves and did not construct houses of any sort.
  • They  never disposed the dead people, they did neither burned nor buried instead left them as they were.
  • They lived in groups to protect from animals. This age continues up to nearly25, 000 B.CE.
  • 2.Classify and explain the divisions of Paleolithic?
  • The Paleolithic is further divided the lower, middle and upper Paleolithic.
  • The general time range for lower Paleolithic is from about 2 million to 100,000 years ago, the middle Paleolithic from about 40,000 to 10,000 years ago.
  • The Paleolithic culture belong to the Palestine geological era.
  • The people of this three division mostly depend on Hunting and gathering.
  • It should be noted that Hunting and gathering did not come to an end with the beginning of animal and plant domestication.
  • Lower Paleolithic  age people used pellets and  tool like hand axe, cleavers  chopping tools and Middle  Parallel-side blades
